Abu Dhabi agrees to buy 16.8 Billion dirhams of Aldar assets
The Abu Dhabi government agreed to buy assets valued at 16.8 billion dirhams ($4.57 billion) from Aldar Properties PJSC, the emirate’s biggest developer, to boost the company’s finances. The government will purchase 760 residential units in the Al Raha Beach development and retire 5 billion dirhams of debt related to infrastructure on Yas Island, Aldar said in a statement today.
Yas Island water park opening delayed to 2013
Aldar Properties, Abu Dhabi’s biggest developer, expects to open Yas Island water park by first quarter of 2013 and will soon be awarding a construction contract for Yas public beach. The outdoor water park, which will have 40 rides and attractions once completed, was expected to be completed by third quarter of 2012.
Seven Yas Island hotels nearly sold out for F1
“All of the hotels on the island are virtually full now [for the November F1],” said Stephen Banks, the director of sales and marketing at Aldar Hotels and Hospitality. “It’s obviously a very busy time for us. People want to be right on the track.”
