Team Haste top F1 in Schools competition
Six teams – three boys and three girls – participated in the competition where Team Haste snapped up all of the prizes for best verbal presentation, fastest car, best team identity and best business plan. The girl’s event was won by Team Rush. Both teams will represent the school in the 2012 UAE National competition at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi in March next year. Team Galacticos finished third.
Walkathon for leukemia patients
Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Health, will open the walkathon to support children with leukemia cancer here on May 14. The blood donation buses will be available in front of Gate 4 of Yas Island in Abu Dhabi
F1: Students can be Ecclestones of the future
Schools student from around the UAE will briefly forget about topping the merit lists and instead focus on taking the summit on podium in the F1 in Schools challenge. Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit has combined forces with the School of Research Science (SRS) Dubai to put on the event at the SRS campus off Baghdad Street in the Al Nahda area of Dubai.
Snoop Dogg drops it like it’s hot
The inaugural Yas Island Show Weekends in Abu Dhabi wrapped up last Friday with a spectacular finale featuring the American superstar rapper, Snoop Dogg. The self-proclaimed “Doggfather” received a roaring welcome from a crowd of 10,000 people at the Yas Arena, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, making the event another success for FLASH Entertainment.
Abu Dhabi hotels welcome Q1 growth
Abu Dhabi hotels welcomed a 10 percent increase in visitors during the first quarter this year compared to the last, with up to 510,114 guests over the first three months. According to figures released by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), March saw the highest increase in visitors, with hotels checking in 180,931 people, nine percent more than the same month last year.
Michael Jackson musical set for Abu Dhabi
Thriller Live, a West End show built around the songs of the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, is set to take the stage in Abu Dhabi. With more than 30 song-and-dance numbers featuring Jackson’s classics, the two-hour tribute show will run in the capital from June 9 to 10 at Yas Island.
