BREAKING: Guns N’ Roses Abu Dhabi-bound

Flash Entertainment has announced a new series of concerts at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island that will feature Guns N’ Roses, Nelly Furtado, the Jonas Brothers, David Guetta and NBA Jamfest.
The ‘Yas Island Show Weekends’ is a month-long programme of entertainment, which Flash hopes will put Yas Island on the map as the “ultimate weekend party destination.”
Announced at a star-studded bash as Yas Hotel’s Skylite bar overlooking the Yas Marina Circuit, the entertainment programme will include open air cinemas, amusement rides and other activities designed to appeal to a broad market.
“We designed the Yas Island Show Weekends in a way that meant people of all ages and tastes could come and get involved. For example, for only 150AED people can see rock legends Guns N’ Roses or Nelly Furtado, or a full day of children’s entertainment for free – unbelievable!,” said John Lickrish, managing director of Flash. “Whether you’re a live music addict keen to see international superstars or a family looking to enjoy a leisurely day out, the Yas Island Show Weekends have something for everyone at affordable prices.”
Lickrish revealed that his company will announce further acts, to be part of ‘Yas Island Show Weekends’ in 2011.
Flash have partnered with Yas Island hotels to offer weekend packages for the events – those that buy a weekend package at one of the hotels will receive a complimentary Golden Circle Ticket to that weekend’s concert. This means for 350AED (3-star), 400AED (4-star) and 450AED (5-star) you’ll see the Yas Island Show Weekends’ headline acts from the front of Yas Arena, as well as a night in a hotel.
The company has also aimed to solve the inevitable transport conundrum for Dubai residents – pledging what it describes as a “convenient and affordable” transportation service operating between the city and Yas Island.
JONAS BROTHERS – DO SOMEWHERE POPULAR – THURSDAY 18TH– SATURDAY 20TH NOVEMBER 2010
· Jonas Brothers Concert – Yas Arena (6pm – 10pm) – One for the tween market – this boy band boasts almost 10 million worldwide album sales and will perform at Yas on Thursday, November 18.
· Kids fun Zone – Gateway Park (10am – 8pm) – A host of family activities including games of skill and carnival rides.
· Mighty 4 workshops – Gateway Park (11am – 8pm) – Internationally recognised Bboy group the Mighty 4 arrive in Abu Dhabi from their world tour. Over two days, the Mighty 4 event will feature break dancing performances, demonstrations and competitions, beat boxing and live music.
· Cartoon parade – Gateway Park (4pm – 5pm) – Get dressed up and enjoy this Alice in Wonderland colourful parade, as the entire community comes together at Gateway Park on Yas Island.
· Open Air Cinema – Gateway Park ( 7pm – 11pm) Watch Camp Rock, featuring The Jonas Brothers and a modern teen classic, the first High School Musical
NELLY FURTADO – DO SOMEWHERE CHIC – THURSDAY 25TH- SATURDAY 27TH NOVEMBER
Friday 26th November – Yas Arena and FLASH Forum
· Nelly Furtado Concert– Yas Arena (8pm – 10pm) Award-winning music sensation Nelly Furtado plays live.
Saturday 27th November
· Leave Your Mark On Yas – Flash Forum (noon – 9pm) – staged battle between graffiti artists competing against each other using street art as their weapons. There will also be art workshops that will let audiences have a try.
