Rodney Fuller, one of the sport’s most well-known personalities, promised a baptism of thrills, spills and unadulterated speed.

Rodney “Hot Rod” Fuller came agonisingly close to the magic milestone when he clocked 499.97kph (310.6mph) in race four of the 8,000horsepower Top Fuel Dragsters, covering the 402metre track in 3.898secs. The world record for the distance is 3.76secs.

In the second half of this year Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will open on Yas Island. Of the 20 rides at the amusement park, the most exciting will be the GT roller coaster. In a twist on the traditional roller coaster, two carriages will race along twisting parallel tracks to the finish line. Each is a replica of a Ferrari F430 Spider.
